When you open a picture file on any of the latest versions of Windows, you probably notice that there is a new utility for visualizing images. However, many people do not like changes or do not feel comfortable with the new tool. In such case, it would be a good idea to restore the classic Windows Photo Viewer. Luckily, the old tool is still present in your system. In fact, the only change is that it is no longer the default program.

As you may have guessed from its name, Restore Windows Photo Viewer is a utility that promises to let you open pictures with the old-style photo viewer by default. The program is very small with a straightforward interface, so there is no way you can get lost. First, you need to check those file extensions that you wish to open with Windows Photo Viewer. Next, you can decide if you want to apply the new configuration for either the current session only or all the user profiles. You should notice that, in case you want to modify other users’ settings, you need to run the program as an administrator. Fortunately, it is also possible to revert to Microsoft Photos App whenever you want.

All in all, Restore Windows Photo Viewer is not one of those utilities you cannot get by without. In fact, it does not solve the whole problem because it only opens Windows Settings for you to set Photo Viewer as your preferred program. The product is free but it continuously nags you with unwanted ads about some of the developer’s products.

Photos in Win 10 makes you look at each photo separately. Windows Photo Viewer showed all photos open. Restore Windows Photo Viewer doesn't work, even with the instructions followed word by word.
